Njord Kårason Fosnes

Njord Kårason Fossnes (b. 2001) is a Norwegian violinist, viola player and composer who studies at the New England Conservatory with Professor Kim Kashkashian. Njord has won prizes as both solo and chamber musician at several Norwegian and international competitions, such as the Midgard Competition, the Youth Music Championship and the Virtuoso & BelCanto Competition. In addition, he received 2nd prize in the first Hindemith International Viola Competition in 2021. He was also in 2018 the youngest participant in viola in the prestigious ARD International Music Competition in Munich. Njord has also been a soloist with Bartok viola concerto and Mozart Sinfonia Concertante as well as Kurt Atterberg's Suite for violin, viola and orchestra with violinist Gustav Rørmark and the Norwegian Broadcasting Corporation. Njord is also an active composer and his work Etyde was performed by the Oslo Philharmonic in 2018.
