Alessandro Caprotti is the Principal Bassoonist of the Norwegian Radio Orchestra (Oslo).
He graduated in 2007 in the class of Oscar Meana at the Conservatoire of Milan. Later on he continued studying with Carlo Colombo at the Conservatoire National Supérieur de Musique de Lyon.

He has been guest player in many European orchestras such as Orchestre des Pays de Savoie, Orchestre de l’Opéra de Lyon, Orchestre National de Lyon, Latvian National Symphony Orchestra, Opéra de Rouen Haute-Normandie, City of Birmingham Symphony Orchestra, Den Norske Operaen og Ballett, The Norwegian Chamber Orchestra, The Norwegain Wind Ensemble and Trondheim Symphony Orchestra.

Chamber music is an important part of his activity. He is a member of Oslo Kammerakademi with which he recorded four CDs and gave many concerts in Norway and in other European countries. He has been teaching in the ensemble’s own Chamber Music Summer Course since 2018. The ensemble has also organised its own music festival (Ski Hagefestival) since 2019.

He was invited at important chamber music festivals such as Risør Chamber Music Festival, Summerwinds Münsterland, Fartein Valen Festival (Haugesund), Valdres Sommersymfoni and chamber music festivals in Oslo, Sunnmøre, Gloppen and Stavanger.

Since 2015 he is a teacher at the Barratt Due Music Institute (Oslo). In 2019 he was appointed associate professor of bassoon at the Norwegian Music Academy. He has given master classes at the Sibelius Academy (Helsinki), at Hému in Lausanne (Switzerland), at the State Conservatoire of Tbilisi (Georgia) and at Baku Music Academy (Azerbaidjan).
