Meet the New Papillon Musicians

On Sunday, 22 November at 2:00 PM, Valdres sommersymfoni invites audiences to a Papillon concert in the Assembly Hall (Forstanderskapssalen) at Sentralen in Oslo. For the first time, seven of the eight newly selected Papillon musicians will appear together on stage.

Chosen from a field of 59 applicants from across the Nordic region, these young artists will make their first public appearance as part of the two-year Papillon programme. The performers are Villads Littauer Bendixen (violin), Vårin Lie Rognes (viola), Lara Biancalana (cello), Edward Ahlbeck Glader (piano), Sebastian Egebakken Svenøy (piano), Inga Lohne-Otterstad (soprano) and Guro Thronæs-Sivertsen (soprano).

The Papillon programme brings together some of the most promising young musicians in the Nordic countries for two years of concerts, mentoring and artistic development. This concert marks the beginning of that journey and offers audiences a unique opportunity to experience the musicians at the very start of their collaboration.

Throughout the concert, the performers will appear in a variety of chamber music formations, presenting both vocal and instrumental repertoire while exploring how individual artistic voices come together through musical collaboration.

The programme features Ernest Chausson’s Chanson perpétuelle for soprano and ensemble, Mozart’s Sull'aria from The Marriage of Figaro, Schubert’s beloved Trout Quintet, and Brahms’ Piano Quartet No. 3.

One of the most exciting aspects of this concert is hearing these musicians perform together for the very first time. We already know them as exceptional talents in their own right. Now begins the process of becoming an ensemble.
