Sebastian Egebakken Svenøy (Norway) is a pianist and student at the Royal Danish Academy of Music in Copenhagen. He achieved his national breakthrough as the winner of NRK’s Virtuos in 2024 and recipient of the Norwegian Soloist Prize, and in the same year he represented Norway in the final of Eurovision Young Musicians. Prior to his studies in Copenhagen, he was affiliated with both the talent development programme at the Norwegian Academy of Music and the National Piano Programme at the Barratt Due Institute of Music.
In recent years, Sebastian has established himself as a sought-after soloist and chamber musician, appearing at festivals and concert series including the Bergen International Festival, the Arctic Chamber Music Festival, and the University Aula Debut Series. He has collaborated with musicians such as Alma Kraggerud, Johan Dalene, and Mikkel Berg-Eriksen, and has worked with distinguished pianists and pedagogues including Leif Ove Andsnes, Kirill Gerstein, Håvard Gimse, and Marianna Shirinyan through masterclasses and talent programmes.
In his application, Sebastian highlights that he has already gained valuable experience as both a soloist and chamber musician, but views Papillon as an opportunity to delve even deeper into artistic collaboration and musical development. He is particularly eager to work closely with other musicians, continue refining his skills as a performer, and challenge himself in new musical contexts.
