TrondheimSolistene is a dynamic chamber orchestra consisting of high-profile musicians with ties to Trondheim. The orchestra was founded in 1988 by violinist and educator Bjarne Fiskum, and has since developed a distinctive artistic identity characterized by flexibility, curiosity, and a wide musical range. Under its current artistic director, Guro Kleven Hagen, the ensemble continues to develop its characteristic expression – known for spontaneity, energy, and intensity.
Through extensive tours in Norway, Europe, Asia, the US, and South America, TrondheimSolistene has established itself as one of the most exciting chamber orchestras on the international scene. They have collaborated with a number of prominent artists, including Tine Thing Helseth, Truls Mørk, Håvard Gimse, Ragnhild Hemsing, and international names such as Hyung-ki Joo. The orchestra has also made significant cross-genre collaborations with artists such as Åge Aleksandersen, Ane Brun, Herborg Kråkevik, and Ola Kvernberg. One of the most significant collaborations has been with Anne-Sophie Mutter, which resulted in an internationally acclaimed recording of Vivaldi's The Four Seasons on Deutsche Grammophon.
TrondheimSolistene is a strong ambassador for Norwegian music and has premiered works by Lasse Thoresen, Maja S. K. Ratkje, Gjermund Larsen, Tyler Futrell, and others. Norwegian repertoire is a natural part of their concerts and tours.
Their discography includes over 25 releases, several of which have received international attention. In 2019, they became the first Norwegian orchestra to win a GRAMMY Award, for the album LUX with the Nidaros Cathedral Girls' Choir. The orchestra has also received several Spellemann Awards and a number of GRAMMY nominations for releases such as Mozart Violin Concertos, Souvenir, Reflections, and In Folk Style. In recent years, they have released Shadows' Dream, Mozart's piano concertos with Håvard Gimse, and Peer Gynt with Ragnhild Hemsing, among others.
With their youthful sound, genre-transcending project spirit, and artistic curiosity, TrondheimSolistene is one of Norway's most distinctive and innovative ensembles.
