Torun Sæter Stavseng is a Norwegian cellist, active as a chamber musician and orchestra leader. She is principal cellist with the Aurora Orchestra London and alt.solo with Kork, as well as a member of the DNK musicians' collective and the Cikada Ensemble, which has performed at leading concert halls and festivals throughout Europe.
Torun trained at the Barratt Due Music Institute in Oslo and the Musikhochschule Stuttgart, completing her soloist diploma at Edsberg/KMH Stockholm in 2010. Since then, she has had a broad freelance career, establishing several chamber music groups and chamber ensembles, including Duo TÖ with pianist Anna Christensson, the string trio TrioTaus with Liv Hilde and Ida Klokk-Bryhn, and two cello trios.
She is passionate about expanding her repertoire and has collaborated with many composers, who have written pieces for her and her ensembles.
She started and ran the chamber music series Krantz in Oslo from 2016 to 2022.
Torun has taught at the conservatory in Tromsø and regularly participates in various masterclasses and talent programs as a teacher and mentor.
