Rohey Taalah is a Norwegian vocalist and composer with a distinctive artistic signature and a commanding stage presence. She has gained recognition through projects such as Gurls, Trondheim Jazz Orchestra, and in duo collaboration with saxophonist Martin Myhre Olsen. Taalah has opened for A-ha at Oslo Spektrum, toured internationally with Jarle Bernhoft, and has been a permanent member of Susanne Sundfør’s live band in recent years.
With a unique voice and a strong personal expression, she combines technical precision with raw intensity and emotional depth. A compelling communicator, she creates an immediate connection with audiences and brings a distinct character to both original material and reinterpretations.
Critically acclaimed, she has been described by Dagsavisen as “one of the country’s strongest voices.” She has received the Spellemann Award in jazz (with Gurls, 2018) and the Trondheim Jazz Festival Talent Award (2016).
As a composer, she created the music for Horde, premiered at the MUNCH museum during CODA – International Festival for Contemporary Dance in 2021.
