Frida Leanne Rogn is a cellist from Vestre Slidre in Valdres. At the age of 11, she began studying at the Barratt Due Music Institute in Oslo, where she was later accepted into the “Young Talents” program.
She moved to Oslo at the age of 16 to devote herself fully to music, and continued at Barratt Due with Louisa Tuck and Bjørn Solum as her main teachers. She has also been fortunate enough to receive masterclasses from Sheku Kanneh-Mason, Andreas Brantelid, Natasha Brofsky, Istvan Vardai, and Hannah Roberts, among others.
Frida is a member of the Sostenuto Quartet, which was awarded the Midgard Prize at the Midgard Competition in 2022. The quartet has also participated in the DSQ Academy and receives regular instruction from Tim Frederiksen and the Doric String Quartet.
As a soloist, she has performed with the Barratt Due Symphony Orchestra and at the Dextra Musica Cello Festival, among others. She has been a group leader in orchestras such as the Young Philharmonic and the Barratt Due Junior Orchestra. Among other things, she has been awarded the Dream Scholarship, the Piatti Prize 2025 at the Royal Academy of Music, 1st prize in the Youth Music Championship, and “Best Performance of a Newly Written Work” at the Midgard Competition.
She is also part of the Spire talent program and is a former participant in the FRAMR talent program at the Hemsing Festival. She is currently studying at the Royal Academy of Music in London with Josephine Knight. She plays a Jean-Babtiste Salomon cello from around 1765, generously loaned by the Royal Academy of Music.
