Bård Monsen (born 1978) has a degree from the Barratt Due Music Institute and as a Fulbright Fellow at Indiana University. He established himself at a young age as an active chamber musician and regularly performs at national and international chamber music festivals with other prominent musicians. He has been presented in the Ultima Festival's "Young Soloists" series, and in 2009 was nominated as a fiddler for a CD with chamber music by Ysaye, together with Henning Kraggerud, Lars Anders Tomter and Ole Eirik Ree. He has regularly performed with Henning Kraggerud in a duo constellation for the past 15 years, including at the Chamber Music Festival in Stavanger, the Bergen Festival and the Oxford Chamber Music Festival.
He has also had several solo assignments, including in Iceland and in Denmark and Norway. He has toured as a chamber musician in large parts of Europe, South America and Asia with various ensembles. On several occasions he has worked as musical director for the Trondheim Soloists and Oslo Camerata, and as concertmaster in the Trondheim Symphony Orchestra and Tromsø Symphony Orchestra. Bård Monsen has also distinguished himself strongly as an educator, and has for several years been employed at the Barratt Due Music Institute and the University of Agder. He is currently employed as a university lecturer at NTNU in Trondheim.
