Valdres International Academy for Strings takes place in period 2: June 28th - July 3rd 2023.

The course is intended for students with great musical and technical capacity and a high artistic level. The course is suited for those who strives to delevope further both individually and in different chamber music settings. All participants will receive daily lessons and guidance by some of Europes leading pedagogues.

Course details

  • Number of participants in period 2: 18
  • Daily lessons and masterclasses with renowned pedagogues
  • Possibility for daily participation in orchestra and/or chamber music groups
  • Possibility for solo performance at the VIS concert series
  • Possibility for chamber music lessons with our excellent pianists
  • Performance at the final course concert with other paricipants from the same course
  • It is possible to apply for the Mentor program for young teachers. This entails teaching a few hours a day in exchange for free board and lodging. Please mark in the application form if you wish to be considered for this program.

Criterias

  • Instruments: violin, viola, cello og doublebass
  • Processing of application requires application fee to be paid in advance (300 NOK) 
  • Course participation requires the course fee to be paid in full ahead of course period
  • The course fee (5900 NOK) includes all tutoring, board and lodging (double room) at Scandic Valdres for participants above the age of 18. 
  • Applicants must submit a recording of a self-selected movement from a standard concerto (or movement/piece with equivalent degree of difficulty). It may be a live recording, a recording made for a competition or a new recording made for the occation. The recording must not be older that 12 months. Link to the recording must be included in the application form.
  • Valdres sommersymfoni reserves the right to make selections based on the information provided in the application form and recordings.
