The Summer Symphony´s International Academy for Strings takes place in period 2: June 28th - July 3rd 2023

The course is intended for students and pupils with great musical and technical capacity that already holds a high artistic level. The course is suited for those who strives to delevope further both individually and in chamber music groups. All participants will receive daily lessons and guidance by some of Europes leading pedagogues.

The Summer Symphony's International Academy for Strings takes place in the 2nd course period; June 28th - July 3rd 2023.

Course details

  • Number of participants: 36
  • Daily lessons and masterclasses with renowned pedagogues
  • Possibility for daily participation in orchestra and/or chamber music groups
  • Possibility for solo performance at the SIS concert series
  • Possibility for lessons with our excellent pianists
  • Possibility for music theory elective
  • Performance at the final course concert 
  • The course fee (3750 NOK) include all tutoring, board and lodging for participants under the age of 18. The application fee is 300 NOK.

Criterias

  • Instruments: violin, viola, cello og doublebass
  • Age limit: Born June 29th 2005-2009 (under the age of 18 when the course begins)
  • Processing of application requires application fee to be paid in advance (300 NOK) 
  • Course participation requires the course fee to be paid in full ahead of course period 
  • Applicants must submit a recording of a self-selected movement from a standard concerto (or movement/piece with equivalent degree of difficulty). It may be a live recording, a recording made for a competition or a new recording made for the occation. The recording must not be older that 12 months. Link to the recording must be included in the application form.
  • Valdres sommersymfoni reserves the right to make selections based on the information provided in the application form and recordings.
